Testimonials - Coaching on the Slopes

Guy Skiing

Coaching on the slopes - what a fantastic opportunity to hone leadership skills while getting ski pointers, fresh air and exercise. I found leadership coaching in this venue to be extremely valuable.

Discussing topics on the chair lift up while processing feedback on the ride down allowed for an intensive, immersive and iterative experience that typically takes multiple individual sessions in the traditional environment, which can sometimes also be weeks.

Setting aside a whole day can be difficult, though absolutely worth it for accountability and not being able to 'shy away' or distract from difficult topics and conversations. Over the course of the day I was able to work with Michael to identify and dig deeply into key aspects for my own leadership as well as strategize methods to implement immediate meaningful and noticeable change. A full day of coaching might not be for everyone.

If you're looking to get to the foundations of an issue or topic and better understand how our internal narratives may be impacting our choices and how we lead then I highly recommend it. And skiing can make for a very useful metaphor.

Inspirational in Numerous Ways

Coaching on the slopes is a new concept for me, and I was intrigued to experience it. A day out on the slopes with Michael was inspirational in numerous ways. The idea was to merge our love for skiing and our desire to improve our performance in various aspects of our personal or work lives.

I thoroughly enjoyed Michael’s ability to thoughtfully listen and distill nuggets of wisdom in between ski runs, and to connect his observations with how I approached runs that pushed me beyond my comfort zone.

This solidified the learning in a very real and immediately actionable moment, making these teachings much more readily retained, compared to bullet points on a PowerPoint slide. Even better, not only did my perspective expand, but my skiing confidence also improved at the same time!

It was pure joy to be guided through the side country and ski terrain that I otherwise would have never skied by myself - AND learn about blind spots that may hinder me from achieving goals. I left the slopes that day with my mind full and legs tired. Learning doesn’t get any better than this!
