What is Coaching?

The ICF (International Coach Federation) defines coaching as "partnering with clients in a thought-provoking process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential."

Standing on this foundation, the Coach's responsibility is to:

  • Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve;

  • Encourage client self-discovery;

  • Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies; and

  • Hold the client responsible and accountable."

What it's not.

Coaching is not mentoring, consulting, or counseling, rather it is holding the space for people to be able to listen to their inner dialogue and their inner wisdom.

Working with a coach you are able to identify your dreams and make them a reality. Professional coaches provide an ongoing partnership that is uniquely designed to help clients produce meaningful results in their personal and professional lives.

Finding the right coach is about finding someone with quality training, proper certification, and the experience necessary to be able to assist you.

How does it work?

Coaching is based on a confidential, one-on-one relationship. Each coaching proposal is customized, due to the unique nature of each client’s needs. The length of the engagement varies with the goals and intent of the client.

Sessions are generally conducted over the telephone and will range in duration between 30 and 45 minutes. Calls are held either weekly or bi-weekly, with email and phone support.

It begins with a two-hour Discovery Session during which we jointly design the coaching relationship, and review your values, goals, and life vision in order to define priorities of action and desired outcomes.

Subsequent sessions will last the previously established length of time and the client may be asked to complete actions between calls to further the achievement of the prioritized goals.
